Sarah Wright at The British Sociological Association

Sarah Wright presented an overview of the reconstructing ourselves study at the British Sociological Association conference in November. She talked about the unique collaboration that is the basis for the study of women’s experience of complex breast reconstruction at the Welsh centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery. Drawing on early findings from the analysis of patients’ narratives and experiences in clinic, Sarah talked about the importance of the notion of normality and redefining normality during as a pivotal aspect of the life changing journey of emotional and physical reconstruction.

The opportunity to present at the prestigious BSA conference sparked lots of new conversations with other like minded researchers in the field of art, culture and medicine
