The aim of the session was to sensitivley explore their experiences, to inform the direction of the project and the interpretative artworks that I will be producing.
We ran an activity in story mapping in which the women were asked to visually map their journeys throughout this very personal process of surgical reconstruction. I am keen to convey the identities of these wonderful women through the artworks that I create later in the project.
The session was a great success and we are very grateful to everyone who took part.
I will be running a series of workshops over the coming months for patient groups to explore relationships with their changing bodies, as they transition through reconstructive surgery operations.
* Details of future Reconstructing Ourselves activities will be posted to this site.
